M-S rebounds from loss to defeat STM

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team rebounded from its first loss by dealing St. Thomas More its first loss in a Saturday night game in the Bulldogs’ gym.

Grant Coleman scored 22 points to lead M-S (2-1) past St. Thomas More (4-1) 52-43. Coleman also grabbed seven rebounds.

Cole Lener scored 13 points and hit 3-of-3 three-point shots. He also cleared a team-high nine rebounds.

Teammate Dawson Finch was scoreless, but handed out a game-high seven assists.

M-S led 16-3 after one quarter, but the visiting Sabers cut their deficit to 22-19 at halftime.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday with their Apollo Conference opener at Charleston.

Through three games, Coleman is averaging 21.7 points per game.
