Gallier leads Bulldogs against Eureka

Reese Gallier dropped in a season-high 22 points on Saturday (Dec. 16), but the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team came up just short in a 52-51 overtime loss to Eureka in the first St. Joseph-Ogden girls’ shootout.

Gallier also bagged five three-pointers and made 5-of-6 free throw attempts.

Kylie Waldinger added 12 points for the Bulldogs. Courtney Fonte finished with six points, Grace Binkley notched four points, Sidney Young contributed four points, Adaline Eisenmann added two points and Hannah Creel converted a free throw.

M-S trailed, 29-25, at halftime but took a 35-33 lead into the fourth quarter. Gallier recorded nine of her points in the third quarter.

On Friday (Dec. 15), Young scored a team-high nine points, but the Bulldogs dropped an Apollo Conference decision at home to Taylorville, 59-31.

Taylorville led, 17-7, after one quarter and 36-13 at halftime.

Fonte and Gallier both notched six points, hitting two three-pointers apiece.

Other point-makers for M-S were Eisenmann (four points), Addie Lagacy (three points), Creel (two points) and Waldinger (one point).

The Bulldogs (5-8) return to action on Monday (Dec. 18) at home against Danville.
