Finch leads Bulldog offense against Effingham

Quarterback Braden Finch accounted for a majority of the M-S total offense in Friday’s 49-7 loss at Effingham.

Finch completed 10 of 21 passes for 158 yards.  He also rushed for a team-high 21 yards on eight carries.

As a team, the Bulldogs had 19 yards rushing on 20 attempts.

Effingham held a 349-177 edge in total offense.

Zach Travis led M-S with 41 receiving yards. Clay Hubble had 40 yards on four catches. Noah Crowley and Mitchell Gallier each had 21 receiving yards.

Hubble also gained 118 yards on five kickoff returns.

Defensive leaders for M-S were Carson Thomas (eight tackles), Peyton Myers (five tackles), Costen Campion (four tackles), Noah Crowley (four tackles) and Skyler Yancy (four tackles).

Finch scored the lone Bulldog TD on a 1-yard run with 8 minutes, 24 seconds left in the second period after Effingham had built a 28-0 lead. Thomas converted the extra-point kick.

Finch has a team-high four TDs for the year. 

M-S (1-3) returns to action on Friday at 7 p.m. in its homecoming contest against Mount Zion (4-0). M-S’ four new Hall of Fame inductees will be recognized in a ceremony at 6:30 p.m.
