Eight Mahomet-Seymour swimmers secure top-four finishes

Eight Bulldogs secured top-four finishes on Thursday (Sept. 24), helping the M-S girls’ swimming team to a runner-up finish in a three-school meet at Lincoln.

Charleston was the meet winner with 89 points. M-S totaled 40 points and Lincoln ended with 12 points.

Senior diver Elise Hertling was the Bulldogs’ lone individual winner.

Junior Anna Lagacy was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke along with a third-place performance in the 200-yard individual medley.

Three squad members recorded a third- and at least one fourth-place finish. Olivia Ross was third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Chloe Shaplan was third in the 100-yard backstroke and fourth in both the 200 IM and the 100-yard freestyle. Taylor Easter was third in the 500-yard freestyle. She took fourth in the 200-yard freestyle.

Teammates Ana Iliff (500-yard freestyle), Kaitlyn Stewart (100-yard butterfly) and Marin Minick (100-yard backstroke) each recorded one fourth-place finish.

The Bulldogs return to action on Monday (Sept. 28) in Champaign against Central.
