COVID-19 concerns temporarily closes Stephens Family YMCA

The Stephens Family YMCA will temporarily be closed beginning March 15 at 6 p.m. until the end of the day on March 29.

“We are hoping to open on March 30th, but we are not clear if that will be possible at this time. This includes all programs and facilities,” a letter to members said.

“Please know that this decision was not made hastily. We spent a great deal of time trying to determine how we can best serve our community. At the end of the day, we have decided to do that by fully participating in the social distancing practices that are being recommended by all levels of federal, state, and local government. We have been in contact with YMCA’s all over the country, and we think that this is the right course of action at this time. We know that this will not be a completely popular decision, but during this time we feel it is best.”

The Stephens Family YMCA will send out another email to members tomorrow with information about canceled programs and membership.

“Our YMCA depends on our membership to keep our doors open and we are hoping that you will continue to be loyal to the YMCA during this very difficult time,” they wrote.

While many questions are left unanswered, the Stephens Family YMCA will offer virtual group fitness by populating their website with fitness videos and offerings that can be done in home.
