Centennial tops Bulldog golf at UI Course

The Mahomet-Seymour boys’ golf team suffered its first dual-meet loss on Monday (Aug. 30), suffering a narrow 173-174 setback to Centennial at the UI Orange course in Savoy.

Reis Claybrooke posted the best Bulldog score, 41. Teammate Erik Christianson, with a 42.

Other Bulldog scores were: Brian Coyne (45), Blake Harvey (46), Jaedon Lager (48) and Jacob Schoudel (49).

Playing as individuals were M-S golfers Zach Courson (39), Sean Summers (48) and John Schlenker (53).

On Tuesday (Aug. 31), medalist Harvey provided a spark that lifted the Mahomet-Seymour junior varsity boys’ golf team to a dual-meet victory over Champaign Central at Lake of the Woods.

Harvey fired a 42 and beat four others by one stroke.

Among those tying for second place were Bulldogs Brogan Hennesy, Schoudel and Carter Selk.

Other top scores for M-S were by Riley Dowers (44) and Parker Clements (53).

The M-S JV won the meet, 171-184.

Ten other Bulldogs participated, but they weren’t designated as one of the top six prior to the meet and their scores were not counted in the meet.

They were: Lager (42), Carter Henrikson (43), Schlenker (43), Jackson White (47), Carson Drinkwalter (48), Ryland Fitzgerald (54), Sean Summers (54), Luke Severns (59), Tyler Mackey (61) and Carter Dohman (70).

M-S (2-1) will return to action on Friday (Sept. 3) at Danville in the Viking Invitational.
