Bulldogs qualify for IESA Regional Championship

Mahomet-Seymour’s seventh-grade volleyball team triumphed twice this week to qualify for the IESA Class 4A regional championship match, which will be played at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday (March 3) in Mahomet.

To start postseason play, the second-seeded Bulldogs rallied to beat seventh-seeded Champaign Franklin, 13-25, 25-25, 25-22, on Monday (Feb. 28).

On Tuesday (March 1), M-S swept third-seeded Rantoul Eater, 25-16, 25-14.

In the title match, the Bulldogs (17-6) will take on top-seeded Champaign Edison. When the schools played in the regular season, Edison prevailed in two sets.

The top-seeded M-S eighth-graders (14-5) play their regional opener at home on Tuesday (March 8) against either Champaign Jefferson or Rantoul Eater.
