Bulldogs on 4-game win streak

The Mahomet-Seymour eighth-grade boys’ basketball team raised its winning streak to four games with back-to-back road wins.

The Bulldogs overpowered St. Matthew in Champaign, 53-14, on Tuesday (Nov. 30) and then topped Eater in Rantoul, 43-26, on Thursday (Dec. 2).

Jackson Bohm recorded a double-double against St. Matthew with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Landyn Hannah put up 12 points and Cade Ashby added seven points.

Against Eater, Ashby totaled 12 points and seven rebounds. Bohm had six points and 13 rebounds. Hannah scored nine points and Nolan Franz contributed eight points. Max Young hit six points.

The eighth-graders are 7-3 and return to action on Thursday (Dec. 9) at home against Urbana.

The M-S seventh-graders split their last two games.

Paxson O’Malley was the team-leader in scoring twice last week. The Bulldogs won at Champaign St. Matthew, 33-25, on Tuesday (Nov. 30).

O’Malley tallied eight points. Eli Dyer and Braylen McDermand each contributed six points. Coy Benway hit four points. Ben Ohms and Joe Roller each added three points. Landon Busch netted two points and Parker Henry made a free throw.

On Thursday (Dec. 2), the Bulldogs took a 38-28 loss at Rantoul Eater.

O’Malley put up eight points. Henry and Bryson Tiefenthaler each landed five points. Busch and Silas Campion chipped in with three points apiece. Dyer and Ohms both finished with two points.

The M-S seventh-graders (7-3) return to action on Thursday (Dec. 9) at home against Urbana.
