The Bulldogs opened the season at home on Saturday (April 17) by sweeping a non-conference doubleheader from Champaign Central.
M-S had two complete-game pitching performances.
In the opener, Aubrie Shore fired a three-hitter and struck out 11 in the Bulldogs’ 5-2 triumph.
In the nightcap, Karley Yergler pitched a four-hit shutout and struck out 16 in a 9-0 M-S victory.
Yergler was a tough out at the plate, finishing the twin bill 4-for-7 with a double, two triples and a home run. She drove in four second-game runs.
Chloe Truax was 5-for-6 for the two games. Emma Clements was 4-for-7, including a double and a triple. Other Bulldogs with hits in each game were Abigail Akers, Ashley Campbell and Maddie Cortez.
Campbell, Clements and Jadyn Hannah all finished with two stolen bases for the day.
M-S (2-0) returns to action on Wednesday (April 21) at Urbana.
