Junior Isaac Warren turned in a two-goal, five assist performance on Saturday (Sept. 17), accounting for each of his team’s goals, as Mahomet-Seymour thumped Lincoln, 7-0, in an Apollo Conference boys’ soccer match.

The Bulldogs led, 2-0, at halftime in the match played at Lincoln.

Nolan Wheeler and Kai Jones also netted two goals. Travis Hoffman scored once.

Other M-S players with assists were Wheeler and Carson Reed.

Goalkeeper Zach Beyer supplied three saves while posting his sixth shutout of the season.

M-S is ranked eighth in the state in Class 2A, according to Maxpreps.

“It was a good program win for the Bulldogs, who were down two starters due to random life events,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Mitchell McAnally did a fantastic job of moving into a new defensive position for the game, and along with a stout backline, anchored by Caeden Simpson and Sebastian Chamorro, the Bulldogs were able to neutralize the Lincoln attack throughout the morning.

“Returning starters and juniors, Isaac Warren and Kai Jones, had a bad taste from losing the conference championship to Lincoln last year, and along with striker Nolan Wheeler, pushed their team to a different outcome.”

M-S (8-2-1) returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 20) at home against Effingham. The Bulldogs are 4-0 in Apollo Conference play and have permitted just one goal between those four opponents.

In the Saturday JV match, M-S (6-0) defeated Lincoln, 2-0, behind goals by Hayden Litteken and Lucaz Isaac.
