Mahomet-Seymour Senior Brea Benson surpassed a milestone many midfielders do not as the Bulldogs 2022 regular season comes to an end.
Benson, who relocated from Tucson, AZ, to central Illinois three years ago, scored her 50th goal against Mattoon on May 4. Acting as a bridge between the defenders and forwards on the field, midfielders have opportunities to score, but are generally not the go-to offensive weapon.
The 5’8” center, who has also played for Illinois Fire in Bloomington, scored 17 of her 52 goals in the 2022 season.
