It didn’t take long for Mahomet-Seymour’s Aron Varga to make his mark in the 2021-22 swim season.
The six-foot sophomore set school records in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.62) and the 100-yard backstroke (59.10). Varga went on to win the 200 individual medley, second in the 100-yard butterfly (58.60) in a three-school meet in Champaign.
At the 15-school Bloomington Raider Invitational, Varga placed third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:07.75) and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly (59.42). Varga was also the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke at the 13-school Centennial Invitational. He placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley.
As a freshman, Varga broke the school record in the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle.
