10 Question Friday: Jen Tee

About Jennifer Tee

My name is Jennifer Tee. I have been married to my husband, Darren, for 26 years. We met at Carrie Busey where Darrn taught P.E. and  I was student teaching. We now both teach at Kenwood Elementary School in Champaign. We have three children ages 21, 18, and 17. Besides being a Mom, I love to read, run, swim, play pickleball, and to go antiquing. I love my job and feel blessed to work at a school that I look forward to going to work everyday.

Do you have any nicknames?

How did you get them?   Growing up everyone called me Jenny. When my sister had children, my nieces and nephews had a hard time pronouncing my name; it came out sounding more like Gigi, so now I am Gigi. My kid’s friends also call me Gigi or Mama Tee.

What would you do if you knew you could not fail?

Get involved with politics and change the education system!

What advice would you give your 16-year old self?

Be yourself. Take risks. Dream bigger than you think you should.

Do you have a favorite line from a movie?

No. I am more of a book girl.

Would you rather go 30 days without your phone or your entire life without dessert?

I don’t really care for desserts, so that’s easy! Life without dessert.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Last Fall.  What did you do? It’s not anything big or life altering, but I tried playing Pickleball for the first time, and now I am hooked!  I have my own regulation net and everything.

Would you rather be a fish in a tank or in the open water?

A fish in open water!

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A teacher.

Where is your favorite place to get takeout in Champaign County?

 Our local favorite, Los Zarapes!

What’s the milestone you’re working towards right now in your personal and professional life?

I am currently in graduate school working toward getting my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership, with the goal to become a Principal of an Elementary School.
