Champaign County Forest Preserve cancels spring break programming, facilities will remain open

The Champaign County Forest Preserve District is canceling all Spring Break programming scheduled for March 16-March 20.

“Our facilities will remain open, and members of the public are welcome to visit in small numbers (fewer than 10),” CCFPD said. “We have instituted additional cleaning procedures to insure your safety.”

The district will continue to monitor CDC and Champaign-Urbana Public Health Department guidance on public gatherings and events as this situation changes and the risks evolve.

“While there are no cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus) currently diagnosed in Champaign County it is our obligation to do all we can to limit the spread of the disease,” CCFPD said.

Spring Break programming included: Quill Writing, Fun with textiles, Butter Churning, Candle Dipping and Civil War Craft & Activity Day at the Museum of the Grand Prairie and Intro to Letterboxing, Meet the Critters and Survival Day at the Homer Lake Forest Preserve.
