Mahomet has been ranked 3rd on a list of 37 best Illinois towns to raise a family by rebootillinois.com. Schaumburg and Evanston were ranked numbers 1 and 2, respectively. Monticello was ranked sixth.
The Reboot Illinois ranking took into consideration a study by niche.com where 4,264 “towns” with populations under 100,000 were judged on crime and safety, education, access to libraries, investment in community, housing, access to grocery stores and daycare, and ages of residents.
Mahomet received a B+ in crime, an A in education, a C+ in access to libraries, an A in community and an A- in housing. Mahomet also receive a C in access to day cares and grocery stores.
