Mahomet Family Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Talynn O’Donnell

With only four regular-season meets left in the 2022 season, Mahomet-Seymour’s Talynn O’Donnell already holds five school records.

The 5’6” freshmen grabbed her first two records in the Centennial Girls’ Swimming Invitational in mid-September, finishing at 25.52 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, 55.31 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. She added her name to a third record, joining teammates Eden Oelze, Lainey Howard and Maddie Logsdon in the 400-yard relay, stopping the clock in 3:59.31. 

A few days later, O’Donnell broke her fourth individual school record of the girls’ swimming season, finishing the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 21.43 seconds.

O’Donnell’s fifth individual record was set in the 500-yard freestyle at Urbana on Sept. 29. She touched the wall in 5:33.04.
