Eight M-S speech team competitors advance to IHSA Sectional

The MSHS Speech Team finished in fourth place out of 11 schools participating in the IHSA Regional speech tournament at Normal Community West High School on Feb. 5.

All participating MSHS students advanced to the final round of competition and eight events will advance to the Sectional round of competition next weekend.

The team of Olivia Pfeifer and Eden Sanborn were named Regional Champion in Dramatic Duet Acting. Other MSHS students winning awards at Saturday’s contest included: Noora Kassem (5th place Dramatic Interp), Veronica Hoffman (4th place Extemporaneous), Jenna Ledin and Madison Ade (3rd place Humorous Duet Acting), Isabelle Fonte (4th place Humorous Interp), Savannah Smith (3rd place Impromptu and 4th place Radio), Lloyd Hinton (6th place Informative), Madison Ade (4th place Oratorical Declamation), Alec Berg (4th place Original Comedy), Anna Hensley (6th place Original Oratory), Anna Lambros (6th place Poetry), and Averhy Sanborn (6th place Special Occasion Speaking).
