Yergler pitches fifth consecutive shutout

Karley Yergler pitched her fifth consecutive shutout on Monday (April 11) at Centennial – and sixth of the season – as Mahomet-Seymour’s softball team blanked the Chargers, 17-0.

Yergler yielded one single, walked one batter and struck out 11.

Five Bulldogs rapped two hits in the non-conference game. Abbey Akers, Kenadi Granadino, Jayden Hannah, Brooke Howard and Yergler all stroked two hits.

Maddie Cortez slugged a home run.

Yergler drove in three runs while registering her fifth straight multiple-hit game. Adding two RBI apiece were Akers, Cortez, Howard, Jami Marriott and Sydney Ward.

Akers, Hannah and Yergler all scored three runs. Hannah stole two bases.

M-S (9-1) returns to action on Thursday (April 14) at Normal University High.
