The Mahomet Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Returns on February 17

The much-anticipated Mahomet Polar Plunge is set to make a splash at Lake of the Woods on Saturday, February 17, inviting the community to brave the cold for a heartwarming cause. This exhilarating event, known for its festive atmosphere and commitment to charity, is not just a test of endurance but also a significant fundraiser for the Special Olympics Illinois.

Event Schedule and Details

The day kicks off at 10:00 AM with plunger check-in and walk-up registration at the Lake of the Woods Pavilion, located at 1702 E. Prairie View Rd, Mahomet. Participants and supporters have until 11:45 AM to register and prepare for the plunge.

At 12:00 PM, the Polar Plunge officially begins. Emcees Tommy and Callie from Mix 94.5 will be on hand to add excitement and humor to the event, including a costume-judging segment for the most creatively dressed plungers.

Following the plunge, at 12:30 PM, a Post-Plunge party will be hosted by Diane Ducey of Stevie Jay Broadcasting. This celebration, held at the Lake of the Woods Pavilion, is a chance for participants to warm up and revel in their achievement. Plungers will be treated to a complimentary meal courtesy of Texas Roadhouse, along with refreshments provided by Heartland Coca-Cola. Family members and fans are also welcome, with meals available for purchase at $6 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

Special Incentives and Competitions

2024 brings an exciting addition for participants – each plunger who meets their fundraising minimum will receive an exclusive Polar Plunge hoodie, a much-requested item among participants. Moreover, plungers have the opportunity to win additional prizes based on the amount of money they raise.
