Katie Hunter scored 11 points and Marley Cloward added 10 points on Tuesday (Sept. 12) as the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High eighth-grade girls’ basketball team opened its season at home with a 29-18 triumph over Champaign Franklin.
M-S scored the game’s first 10 points. For the game, the Bulldogs nailed 7-of-10 free throws.
The M-S seventh-graders were edged by Franklin, 28-27. The Bulldogs held a one-point halftime cushion. Franklin hit the winning basket in the final five seconds.
Phoebe Graham hit a team-high 11 points. Cambria Clark netted eight points.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (Sept. 14) at home against Danville North Ridge.
