Peyton Myers registered first-period pins in both of his matches on Tuesday as Mahomet-Seymour’s wrestling team opened its dual-meet schedule with a pair of victories.

The Bulldogs dispatched Centennial 42-34 and Chatham Glenwood 39-34 in Champaign.

The 152-pound Myers posted pins in 1 minute, 20 seconds and in 1:06.

Bulldogs Logan Petro (138 pounds) and Mateo Casillas (195 pounds) also had pins against the Chargers.

Myers was one of six M-S grapplers with pins against Chatham Glenwood. The others were by Chance Decker (145 pounds), Hayden Nelson (160 pounds), Gage Granadino (170 pounds), Colton Crowley (182 pounds) and Seth Buchanan (285 pounds).

The Bulldogs’ other points came on a win by decision from 106-pound Caden Hatton.

The bonus points gained from the pins made the difference in the team outcome as both M-S and Chatham Glenwood – which held a 30-9 lead – won seven of the individual matches.

Against Centennial, the Bulldogs benefitted from receiving forfeits at four weight classes. In contested matches, Centennial held a 7-3 edge.

M-S (2-0) returns to action tonight at St. Thomas More in a meet that also includes Judah Christian.
