Mahomet-Seymour Veterans’ Day Ceremonies

Mahomet-Seymour High School student council will host a Veteran’s Day breakfast beginning at 7:30 a.m. on Nov. 11. A shuttle bus from Our Lady of the Lake parking lot to the high school will be available beginning at 7:15 a.m.

Mahomet-Seymour High School

Mahomet-Seymour High School student council will begin their 2019 Veteran’s Day ceremony at 8:20 a.m. in the gymnasium.

The ceremony full of music and remembrance will feature speaker Marc Eccher.

Lincoln Trail Elementary

Lincoln Trail’s Veterans Day Assembly will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Lincoln Trail gym.  Veterans are invited to come to Lincoln Trail after the assembly at the High School or at 9:30 a.m.

Cookies and coffee will be available to all guests. 

The assembly will feature speaker David Cluver, who spent time in Afghanistan. Cluver will also talk about his Veteran dog, whose job it was to search for the IEDs.  He will be sharing with our students the importance of Veterans Day as well as the role his dog played in the safety of him and his fellow soldiers.

A shuttle bus will be available to transport veterans from Our Lady of the Lake Church to the HS and to Lincoln Trail. 

Special parking will be available on the Lincoln Trail playground near the cafeteria and gym doors for guests that need a shorter walk.  Lincoln Trail also has accessible parking in the front of the building. 

At the conclusion of the assembly, the shuttle bus will return guests to their vehicles at Our Lady of the Lake Church. 

Middletown Prairie Elementary

A Mahomet-Seymour’s Girl Scout Troop will lead Middletown Prairie’s Veteran’s Day assembly on November 11 from 1:00-1:45.

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School

After leaving school at the age of 17 to join the United States Navy in 1944, Bruce Voges was shipped off to the Western Pacific where he served until the end of WWII.

Voges, a St. Joseph resident, will be at Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School on November 11 to talk to students about his service in the Navy.

He retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer in 1964.

Mahomet-Seymour Junior High’s Veteran’s Day program begins at 2:30 p.m.
