Karley Yergler fired a five-hit shutout on Monday (March 21) as Mahomet-Seymour’s softball team defeated Prairie Central, 3-0, in Fairbury.
Yergler struck out 15 batters.
The M-S offensive assault was led by Abbey Akers, Maddie Cortez and Jayden Hannah, each with two hits. Cortez swatted two doubles.
Cortez drove in two runs and Jenna Wade had the team’s other RBI.
M-S (2-0) returns to action on Tuesday (March 29) at home against Galesburg.
