Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ golf team was victorious on Saturday (Sept. 23) in the Unit 5 Better Ball Tournament in Normal at Ironwood Golf Course.
The format paired up teammates with the best score on each hole counting.
The duo of Kelton Hennesy and Jacob Schudel carded a 72. Teammates Reis Claybrooke and Parker Clements fired a 73.
Bulldogs Leif Olson and Cole Thrasher combined for a 78.
On Thursday (Sept. 21), the Bulldogs, using a lineup of six seniors, shot a 59 in a scramble at Pontiac and took fourth place.
Also on Thursday (Sept. 21), the junior varsity Bulldogs fired a 173 and finished behind the Rantoul/Paxton-Buckley-Loda varsity, which totaled a 172.
The top JV scores were Zach Blumenshine (41), Jackson Bohm (43), Jack Meyer (44), Todd Laughton (45), Crawford Korthals (45).
M-S (7-0) returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 27) in the 10-team Class 2A IHSA Centennial Regional.
