Mahomet-Seymour defeats Mattoon at Coaches vs. Cancer

Savannah Orgeron collected team-high totals of 19 points and eight rebounds on Tuesday (Jan. 10) as the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team was victorious at home in its Coaches Vs. Cancer game against Mattoon, 47-41.
Orgeron tallied 10 of her points in the first quarter, propelling M-S into a 20-10 lead.
Mattoon, however, fought back and was within a 24-18 score at halftime.
The Bulldogs limited the Green Wave to a pair of third-quarter free throws while building a 39-20 lead.
Abby Bunting contributed nine points and seven rebounds. Bunting had five of her points in the quick first-quarter getaway.
Durbin Thomas corralled seven steals. Kylie Waldinger ended with six points and four rebounds. Alayna DeWitt scored five points.
M-S (17-4) returns to action on Thursday (Jan. 12) at Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin.
The Bulldogs prevailed in the junior varsity contest against Mattoon, 40-28.
