Mahomet-Seymour Cross Country, Soccer, Football and Volleyball Updates

MSHS Cross Country

The Peoria Nortre Dame Invitational featured the powerhouse of cross country runners, including 11 AAA State ranked teams, 5 AA State ranked teams, and 3 A State ranked teams.

Under hot conditions that slowed down the entire field, Mahomet-Seymour Cross Country finished 9th.

Despite less than favorable conditions, Riley Fortune, Bryson Keeble, Ryan Hodge, Jack Mchale, Mathias Powell, and Garret Williams all ran season bests.

Mathias Powell, Ryan Hodge, and Riley Fortune received one of 60 medals that were awarded. 

MSHS Soccer

The Bulldogs played well to earn a 3-0 victory over the Bloomington High School Saturday.

In the first half, Trevor Burgess was able to set up Austin Carr to give the Bulldogs a lead. Later, he was fouled in the box to give the Bulldogs a penalty. Brandon Bussman was able to convert it to give MSHS a 2-0 lead.

In the second half, Mahomet was again able to control the ball on the ground and create opportunities. After a handball in the box, Ethan Mansfield was able to give the Bulldogs a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Cory Cebulski earned his second clean sheet shutout of the season.

The Bulldogs play at Effingham and Taylorville this week. They will be home again next Saturday against Danville.

MSHS Volleyball

Saint Thomas More defeated Mahomet-Seymour in two sets Thursday.

Savannah Matthews had 10 kills, Kayin Garner had 15 assists and Hannah Buzicky had 9 digs.

MSHS Football

Mahomet-Seymour football fell to Taylorville 31-12 Friday.

Dawson Finch threw one touchdown pass to Josh Johnson and rushed into the end zone for a second touchdown.

David Pogue led the defense with 9 tackles.
