Mahomet-Seymour Board Approves $205K Smartboard Purchase

The Mahomet-Seymour Board of Education approved the purchase of 42 new interactive smartboards and associated electrical work for Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School at their May 18 meeting.

The project includes two main components totaling $205,877.24. The bulk of the investment, $196,943.24, will go toward purchasing smartboards and related equipment from Bradfield’s Inc. of Peoria. The district also secured extended warranty coverage, purchasing five-year Assure Warranty packages for all displays. Installation and removal services are included in the quote at $400 per unit.

Davis Electric Inc. of Urbana will handle the necessary electrical work for $8,934. The scope includes installing 15 quad outlets in 15 classrooms for the new smartboards; running 120-volt power from existing outlets or projector circuits; adding 4 quad outlets near teachers’ desks in 4 classrooms; and testing and labeling all outlets with circuit numbers.

The district is planning to bring a $130 million referendum to voters in November 2026 that includes the construction of a new 6th-8th-grade facility to replace the current Mahomet-Seymour Junior High School. Should that referendum fail, the board of education has discussed a renovation and/or an addition to the current building. These new smartboards are expected to be used after any upcoming transition.
