2027 Consolidated Election Candidate Filing Period Opens Aug. 25
Residents considering a run for local boards in 2027 will be able to begin collecting petition signatures on Aug. 25.
Constituents can file to run for boards within the Mahomet-Seymour School District, Village of Mahomet, Cornbelt Fire Department, Mahomet Public Library, Sangamon Valley Public Water District, Champaign County Board and Mahomet Township Board.
Candidates for Mahomet-Seymour board file with the county. Candidates looking to run for local offices with other entities file nomination papers with the unit’s own local election official. To find out more, contact the local government for paperwork and appropriate dates.
The next Consolidated Election is scheduled for April 6, 2027. Candidates may begin circulating nominating petitions Aug. 25, 2026. The filing window opens Nov. 16 and closes Nov. 23, 2026.
