Mahomet-Seymour Board Approves 2.2% Online Payment Convenience Fee for School Transactions

The Mahomet-Seymour school board has voted to add a 2.2 percent convenience fee to most online payments made through the district’s RevTrak system.

Currently, the district is paying a 4.39 percent fee per transaction on RevTrak, amounting to about $80,000 a year.

While the board of education considered the full range of options of passing on 2 percent to 4.39 percent fee per transaction to families within the district, the full board agreed to start with a 2.2 percent fee in the 2026-27 school year, possibly phasing that amount up over subsequent years.

Supporters framed it as a middle-ground approach that would reduce district expenses while allowing the board to watch how families respond and whether payment behavior changes.

Board members noted that when a fee is charged to a student, whether for school registration or athletics, parents and guardians also have the option to pay by check without an additional fee. Those payments can be made at one of the district’s school offices.

The fee may be waived when registering for fundraising events, such as the Bulldog Open.
