Safewise, which provides unbiased views on home security systems, has recognized the Mahomet community as the 34th safest town in Illinois.
Analyzing FBI crime data, Safewise comprised the ranking while looking at the amount of violent and property crimes per 1,000 residents. It found that Mahomet has .98 violent crimes and 6.27 property crimes per 1,000 residents.
Mahomet was previously ranked number 21.
