‘No Kings 3’ Rally To Bring Democracy Advocates To Champaign County Courthouse March 28

Residents in Champaign County will join millions of other Americans on March 28 in “No Kings” protests nationwide.
Organizers say the event, scheduled from 1 to 3 p.m. at 101 E. Main St. in downtown Urbana. Participants are encouraged to bring homemade signs and join neighbors in a peaceful, nonviolent show of resistance to what organizers describe as a “fascist regime” currently leading the United States.
The No Kings movement is a coalition-led campaign anchored by groups like Indivisible and the 50501 Movement that describes itself as a peaceful, nationwide resistance to what it views as authoritarian, “monarchical” tendencies in the Trump administration. Organizers say they have already drawn more than 12 million cumulative participants to past events.
The March 28 demonstrations are the third major “No Kings” day of protest, with more than 3,000 events planned in all 50 states and every congressional district, according to organizers.
“No Kings 3, first and foremost, is about community,” Champaign County Indivisible wrote in its event description, emphasizing that large public protests are just one tool in a broader strategy that includes supporting local agencies already working to protect people targeted by racism, economic hardship and threats to civil liberties. The group says it is committed to partnering with existing initiatives “until forces for good prevail,” and it is urging residents who have never attended a protest before to consider March 28 as their first step into public advocacy.
Speakers from local advocacy and political organizations are expected to highlight issues such as voting rights, federal overreach, cuts to essential services and the abuse of executive power. After the rally, attendees will march through the surrounding downtown streets in a short loop, a format organizers say is designed to be family‑friendly and accessible to people of varying ages and abilities.
Champaign County Indivisible leaders have stressed that the protest will follow Indivisible’s national code of conduct, which calls for nonviolent action and de‑escalation of any potential conflicts with counter‑protesters. A volunteer safety team, trained in crowd management and conflict de‑escalation, will be on site to help keep the event orderly and to coordinate with local law enforcement and city officials along the march route.
Saturday’s rally is co‑sponsored by a growing list of groups, including Champaign County Democrats, Indivisible Illinois and the Champaign‑Urbana Resistance Effort (CURE), alongside other civil liberties and social justice organizations.
Organizers note that parking in downtown Urbana is free on weekends, and they say the event will proceed in almost any weather, short of a tornado warning or other dangerous conditions. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP online through a Mobilize sign‑up page, which allows volunteer organizers to estimate crowd size and recruit additional helpers.
Residents interested in joining No Kings 3 can find more details and RSVP information through Champaign County Indivisible’s event page and the Mobilize event listing for the March 28 rally at the Champaign County Courthouse in Urbana.

All American patriots should be there. This administration has made a mockery of the rule of law, and it won’t get better if we’re not out there showing we’re not okay with this.
This isn’t about being left or right, it’s about saying “Enough is enough!” Gas prices and groceries are getting worse and worse, while this administration ignores decisions made by judges and makes up lies on the spot to justify murdering US citizens.
