C.G. Facer wins Naughtin Open

C.G. Facer came from five shots off the pace on Sunday (June 6) to win the championship flight of the Naughtin Open by two strokes at Lake of the Woods Golf course.

Facer fired an opening-round 76 on Saturday and trailed Andrew Lawson, who carded a 71.

Facer’s 69 on Sunday was the day’s best round and put him at 145 for the two-day event. Lawson closed with a 76 to finish in a tie for the runner-up spot with a 147.

Also tied for second was Ben Crane (72-75—147). Craig Toler (73-75—148) placed fourth.

The first flight champion was Michael Holmes (83-78—161). He was followed by Nick O’Dea (84-79—163), Zach Henderson (86-78—164) and Stephen Dunn (84-81—165).

In the Senior Division, Jim Rayburn made up four strokes in the final round to win by a shot.

Rayburn had rounds of 82-71—153. He surged past first-round leader Kevin Schwulst (74-80—154). In third place was Chuck Clarkson (80-76—156) and fourth-place honors were won by Jay Hall (75-83—158).

The Senior Division first flight winner was John Malloy (83-77—160). Trailing him were Joe Quinlan (86-80—166), Mark Guymon (83-86—169) and Neil Sudduth (87-94—181).
