Bulldogs add win to their total

Mahomet-Seymour’s junior high boys’ basketball teams continued to add to their win totals on Thursday (Jan. 11) with a pair of victories at Champaign Jefferson.

The eighth-grade Bulldogs captured a 59-18 victory while the seventh-graders were triumphant, 52-26.

Both squads have 21-1 overall season records.

Tristen Adams scored a game-high 15 points for the M-S eighth-graders. Preston Clark swished four three-point shots and finished with 14 points.

Other Bulldog pointmakers were Jackson Golden (11 points), Konner Fisher (five points), Bradley Jones (four points), Levi Lunney (three points), Wil Selk (three points), Camden Beedy (two points) and Colin Hammerschmidt (two points).

Clark poured in four three-point shots. Fisher and Golden both notched one three-pointer.

The Bulldogs zoomed into leads of 22-7 after one period and 39-15 at halftime. M-S did not allow a point in the final stanza.

The seventh-graders were led by A.J. Fenelus (16 points). Nathan Stabler had 12 points and Jaxson Tiefenthaler ended with 10 points.

Will Martin made 5 of 6 free throws and totaled nine points. Evan Franz added three points and Landon Benner contributed two points.

M-S built a 14-6 lead after one quarter and upped its lead to 24-13 at halftime.

The Bulldogs return to action on Wednesday (Jan. 17) at Monticello.
