Freshmen Owen Kearns has helped the young Mahomet-Seymour swim team jump off to a 4-2 start after three meets in 2021.
At 5’10”, Kearns finished with runner-up performances in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly in his first high school meet against Champaign Central and Charleston.
A week later, he finished first in the 100-yard butterfly and second in the 200-yard freestyle as the Bulldogs defeated Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin and Lincoln.
Kearns was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle in the three-school meet at Lincoln College earlier this week. He also stepped up when the Bulldogs needed someone to swim the 500-yard freestyle, winning the race.
