Ava Yeakel produced the highest-scoring game for a Mahomet-Seymour eighth-grade girls’ basketball player this season on Tuesday (Sept. 28), tossing in 19 points in a 35-17 Bulldog victory at Charleston.
Lily Bosworth chipped in with nine points as M-S bounced back from a loss in its previous game.
On Thursday (Sept. 23), Yeakel tossed in a game-high 16 points, but the M-S eighth-graders fell short at home to Bloomington, 37-35.
Bosworth added seven points for the Bulldogs.
Bloomington took a lead near the end of the first half and the Bulldogs were unable to regain the advantage.
M-S forced a turnover with four seconds to play, but a last-second shot was off-target.
The Bulldogs (4-1) return to action on Thursday (Sept. 30) at Paxton-Buckley-Loda.
