Ainsley Winters won medalist honors on Monday (Sept. 20), winning the girls’ Apollo Conference golf tournament by three strokes at Mattoon’s Meadowview Golf Course.
Winters carded an 18-hole round of 88 to headline the eight-player all-conference team.
One teammate joined her on the all-conference squad.
Kayla McKinney shot a 96 and placed fifth. The top eight finishers were named to the all-league team. The round was McKinney’s best 18-hole score during the high school season.
Maddy Clark tied for 12th in the seven-school meet, with a 101.
M-S’ other competitors were Gaby Davis (109), Emma Dallas (118) and Sydney Carlteon (135).
Charleston won the Apollo team title with 391 composite. M-S, which was sixth a year ago, moved into the runner-up position with a 394 score. Third-place Mattoon had a score of 397.
M-S returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 28) at Lake of the Woods against Mount Zion and Tri-Valley.
