Westville outlasts Mahomet-Seymour softball

Madisyn White scored both runs for the Mahomet-Seymour softball team on Wednesday (April 5), but the Bulldogs dropped a 3-2 decision at Westville.

Madelyn Logsdon, who was 3-for-3, and Kenadi Granadino drove in the M-S runs. White socked two hits.

Adding one hit apiece, besides Granadino, were Rio Casillas and Madeleine Cortez.

Ava Henderson pitched all six innings. She walked eight and struck out three.

On Saturday (April 8), M-S lost an Apollo Conference doubleheader at Effingham, dropping 6-1 and 8-2 decisions.

The Bulldogs were held to four hits in the opener. Connecting for hits were Brooke Hartman, Ava Henderson, Sydney Ward and White.

Ward scored the team’s lone run. Hartman delivered the RBI.

Henderson pitched all six innings. She walked no one and struck out three batters.

In the nightcap, five errors were detrimental for M-S. Pitcher Katherine Severns did not allow an earned run in her six-inning stint. She walked one and struck out two.

Hartman was the only Bulldog with hits in both games. Other Bulldogs with hits in the second game were Casillas, Cortez, Granadino, Logsdon and Jenna Wade. Brooklyn Dyer and Granadino scored runs. Logsdon had an RBI.

M-S (2-6) returns to action on Monday (April 10) at home against Centennial. The Bulldogs are 2-2 in Apollo Conference action.
