Wagers and Smith pitch shut-out over Danville

Chase Wagers and Brayden Smith teamed up to throw the first shutout by the Mahomet-Seymour baseball staff on Wednesday (May 19) at home, a five-inning 11-0 triumph over Danville.
Wagers (3-0) pitched the first four innings, scattering two hits, walking one and striking out six. Smith, in his first mound appearance of the year, yielded one hit, one walk and struck out one batter.
M-S put five runs on the board in the opening inning, highlighted by a home run from Mateo Casillis.
Casillis had two hits and drove in three runs. Wagers, Nate McFall and Will Sampson also ended with two hits apiece. Sampson knocked two doubles. McFall scored three runs.
The Bulldogs stole nine bases, including two apiece by McFall, Brayden Houchin and Jaedon Lager. Lager also scored two runs.
Lager became the second Bulldog (behind Andrew Norman) with at least 10 stolen bases for the season.
Wagers has a 10-game hitting streak.
M-S (8-8) snapped a four-game losing streak. The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (May 22) with a doubleheader at Lincoln.
