Village staff and board work on communication and common goals
Shirley Stelbrink of Learning Alliance Company joined Village of Mahomet board and staff in a goal planning session Tuesday night. Stelbrink will also facilitate discussion on Nov. 19 and Nov. 25.
After interpreting results from a group poll, Mayor Patrick Brown said while direction from the board to the staff was unclear in the past, he feels the separation between the direction of the board and the staff has diminished.
Members also discussed the language of the former Village vision and mission statement while they constructed new ones. After deciding the current statement was too wordy and needed to be separated, the group agreed the vision statement will read: Preserve, protect and enhance our community’s quality of life.
They also decided the mission statement will be: Provide for the needs of today and prepare for the demands of tomorrow while remaining mindful and respectful of the past.
The statements have not been finalized, but will be reviewed during the Nov. 19 meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. They will also continue discussion on the S.W.A.T. analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats).
The regularly scheduled Village board study session will run from 6 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 19.
