Urbana tops Mahomet-Seymour soccer
By Fred Kroner
Urbana pushed across a second-half goal on Monday (Sept. 26) and posted a 1-0 victory over visiting Mahomet-Seymour in a boys’ soccer match.
“M-S went on the road and came out a bit sluggish,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “The boys didn’t play with enough urgency until they were down one in the second half.
“They played really well the final 20, but unfortunately it was a bit too late. They created several dangerous chances at the end by pressuring high up the field, but couldn’t put it in the back of the net.”
Despite the setback, two defenders continued their stellar play.
“Sebastian Chamorro and Caeden Simpson both had gutsy performances,” Davis added. “The two starting center backs have been critical to the Bulldogs’ defensive fortitude throughout the year.
“After missing several games this past week due to injury, they both battled through pain all night.”
M-S (11-3-2) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 29) at home against Charleston.
