Urbana tops Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball

Mahomet-Seymour scored nearly half of its points in the fourth quarter on Monday, but lost a 63-48 non-conference girls’ basketball decision at home to Urbana.
The Tigers led 49-25 after three quarters.
Savannah Orgeron and Makayla Rosenbery were the Bulldogs’ top scorers, each finishing with nine points.
Cayla Koerner and Durbin Thomas finished with seven points apiece.
M-S hit 22 of 30 free throws, but made just 4-of-26 three-point attempts.
Nichole Taylor cleared 16 rebounds. Orgeron grabbed five rebounds.
Rosenbery had four blocks. Koerner and Thomas each wound up with two steals.
M-S (15-12) returns to action tonight at home against Charleston, trying to snap a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs are 3-7 in Apollo Conference contests.
