Unbeaten Lincoln defeats Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball

State-ranked and unbeaten Lincoln made Mahomet-Seymour its 30th consecutive victim on Thursday (Feb. 9) in a 65-46 decision in the Bulldogs’ gym.
The Apollo Conference contest marked the regular-season finale for both squads.
M-S led, 10-9, after one quarter, but had fallen behind, 25-17, by halftime.
Durbin Thomas led the Bulldogs with 17 points. She nailed five three-point shots.
The visiting Railsplitters held season scoring leader Savannah Orgeron to 13 points, but just four points (all free throws) in the first three quarters.
Kylie Waldinger added eight points to the M-S total. Abby Bunting had four points and four rebounds. Orgeron also cleared four rebounds.
Reese Gallier pulled down three rebounds.
The Bulldogs’ junior varsity team defeated Lincoln, 52-43, to finish their season with a 22-4 record.
The M-S varsity returns to action in a Class 3A regional which it will host. Top-seeded M-S faces eighth-seeded Danville (0-20) in the semifinals on Tuesday (Feb. 14).
