Transform Fitness open house Thursday

tablesTransform Fitness owner Lindy Gault invites members and the Mahomet community to the Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Thursday. Immediately following the ceremony, Gault will open the doors to her studio with light appetizers and wine to showcase the space.

While Transform Fitness hosts a variety of fitness classes throughout the week, the space is also available to rent for corporate events, baby or wedding showers and holiday parties, among other things. Gault’s mother, Carla Brown, who specializes in interior design and event planning, will oversee the event planning.

“People will get to see what it looks like when it’s set up for an event,” Gault said. “We will bring in cocktail tables and have it decorated so they can see what it looks like without weights in the corner.”

Within the first two months, membership at Transform Fitness has exceeded Gault’s expectations.

“God has had a plan for this all along,” she said. “I’ve worked hard, but at the same time I feel like I didn’t necessarily have all these steps in place. I just went after what I love, and focused on providing the best service possible.”

Gault was on a business trip in Texas two weeks ago when her husband, Ben, called to tell her he could feel the positive energy in the studio as 15 clients prepared for their workout.

“He said, ‘You’re doing something right,’” she said. “That was huge to me because I wasn’t here. The fact that he could feel the vibe in here, that’s cool.”

While Gault loves to form personal relationships with her clients, she’s seen members greet newcomers, helping them feel comfortable before she even has time to approach them.

Alongside Zumba, 3D, Bodypump, TurboKick, Body in Balance and PiYo classes, Gault now offeres P90X MMA and TF 30 classes. The Monday night P90X MMA class is taught by Mark Briggs who is a Tolono resident who travels around the world with P90X creator Tony Horton.

Gault has seen classes like P90X bring men into the studio. She hopes to see more men join with Body Combat or a Kickboxing class which start in December.

After completing a 25-minute at-home workout this summer, Gault designed her own 30-minute workout called TF 30, which meets on Saturday mornings.

“One of the things I want people to learn is you don’t have to kill yourself to get result,” Gault said. “A lot of people think that way. They think I need to be on a treadmill for an hour and a half, and they don’t. Fitness is something that they can fit into their schedule however it works for them at that stage in their life.”

With a monthly or class pass membership, participants can choose the class and times which work into their schedule.

While classes are listed as beginner or advanced on the Transform Fitness website, Gault said members at all levels of fitness will be able to join a class at any time. Gault’s team of highly trained instructors know  to modify each workout to meet all fitness levels.

Recently, Gault offered a “Skinny Jean Challenge.” Through nutrition education and access to all classes, Gault saw participants drop 5 lbs. and a few inches over four weeks.

“It’s really just knowing what kind of choices to make throughout your day,” she said. “There’s so much conflicting information for people out there. I really try to break all that down for them, answer their questions and get them into a good rotation of habits that will compliment what they are doing in terms of fitness.”

Gault also added licensed massage therapist Jamie Logsdon to her team last week.
