To Grandmother’s House We Go! and Night Lights: A Holiday Celebration at Lake of the Woods

The Champaign County Forest Preserve District invites families to step into the warmth of the holiday season at its cherished event, “To Grandmother’s House We Go!,” held on December 6 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Museum of the Grand Prairie in Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve. Visitors will be welcomed by festive holiday décor and a lively lineup of classic Christmas crafts and interactive activities that recall the nostalgia and spirit of holidays from times past.

This year, “To Grandmother’s House We Go!” weaves seamlessly into Lake of the Woods’ larger winter festival, “Night Lights,” which transforms the nearby Mabery Gelvin Botanical Garden into a dazzling landscape of illuminated pathways and colorful seasonal displays. While families craft ornaments and sip hot chocolate at the Museum, the garden will shimmer with enchanting lights, creating a magical atmosphere for all ages to enjoy.

Running in tandem, these two events offer visitors a unique opportunity: celebrate timeless holiday traditions indoors while also venturing outside to enjoy the wonder of Night Lights.
