By FRED KRONER
Three Mahomet-Seymour underclassmen earned all-conference recognition on Wednesday (Sept. 25) in the Apollo Conference girls’ golf tournament at Effingham.
Junior Brooke Hartman fired an 86 and tied for second place in the six-school event. Hartman was also an all-Apollo Conference first-teamer in 2023.
Freshman teammate Makenna Peterka shot an 89. She tied for fifth place.
The third Bulldog all-conference selection was freshman Katie Hunter, who carded a 92 and grabbed an eighth-place individual finish and the final all-conference berth.
Other M-S competitors at the conference tournament were Lexi Helbling (112) and Sydney Carleton (117).
In the team chase, the Bulldogs’ 379 composite secured them a runner-up finish. Meet champion Effingham totaled a 361. Third-place Charleston finished with a 406 score.
M-S moved up one position in the team standings from last year. The second-place finish matched the team’s performance from the 2022 Apollo Conference meet.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (Sept. 26) at Lake of the Woods against Centennial.
