Three more wins for Mahomet-Seymour baseball

Mahomet-Seymour’s baseball team made the most of its three hits on Thursday (April 21) and dispatched visiting St. Thomas More 4-2 in a non-conference baseball game.
Bulldog pitchers Carter Johnson and Zach Courson teamed up on a five-hitter and didn’t walk a batter. Johnson picked up the win after striking out eight in five innings. Courson fanned three during the final two innings.
Johnson also belted one of M-S’ two doubles. Carter Selk also had a double and drove in two runs. Jaedon Lager had one hit and scored one run.
Mateo Casillas and Chase Wagers each had one RBI. Jacob Waldinger and Evan Ruzich both tallied one run.
On Saturday (April 23), Casillas hammered a home run in each game as the Bulldogs swept a twin bill at Taylorville,14-0 and 18-1.
Casillas was 5-for-6 for the day with five RBI. He also had a double and a stolen base.
Johnson was 5-for-5 for the two games and drew three walks. Wolters was 4-for-7 overall with six runs batted in. He powered two doubles and one home run.
Alex McHale landed two hits in the opener and Selk had two RBI in the first game. Waldinger scored three runs in each game. Will Jones scored two runs in the second game.
Wolters and Courson registered the two pitching wins.
Wolters pitched four innings of one-hit ball in the first game, walking three and striking out four. Ruzich worked the fifth inning, walking one batter and fanning two.
In the second game, Courson scattered three hits in his four-inning stint. He walked one and struck out six and did not yield an earned run. Casillas hurled the final inning, walking one and striking out one.
M-S (13-3) returns to action on Friday (April 29) at Rochester.
