Champaign County Forest Preserves’ popular Trail Challenge is back for 2025, inviting outdoor enthusiasts to discover every hiking trail the Champaign County Forest Preserves has to offer. This year, the focus shifts from logging miles to exploring all 31 unique trails spread across the county’s scenic preserves.

From May 1 through December 31, 2025, participants are encouraged to step out of their comfort zones and visit trails they’ve never hiked before. With over seven months to complete the challenge, there’s plenty of time to experience the beauty and diversity of each preserve.

To join, hikers should register for the Trails Challenge 25 on the Goosechase App using Join Code: PGY2D8. Participants will snap a photo at each trail’s “Selfie Spot” marker, complete missions in the app, and earn points for a chance to win monthly prize baskets. Those who hike all 31 trails by year’s end will receive a commemorative Trails Challenge t-shirt.

Hiking five new trails each month automatically enters participants into prize drawings, making it a fun and rewarding way to stay active and engaged with nature throughout the year.
