The Glenwood and Waterford take precautions to protect residents
The Glenwood Assisted Living of Mahomet and The Waterford at Bridle Brook of Mahomet are taking precautions provided by the CDC, IDPH and HFS to ensure the safety of their residents.
In order to protect their residents from COVID-19, influenza, pneumonia and common colds each facility will take the following action:
The Glenwood
- Family, friends and outside visitors will be given the following directives:
- Limit visitors, including family and friends. The Glenwood asks that guest consider rescheduling upcoming visits;
- Individuals who are experiencing respiratory illness symptoms, such as a cough or fever, will be asked to reschedule their visit;
- Individuals who have recently traveled outside of the U.S. will be asked to reschedule their visit;
- Individuals under the age of 18 should not visit at this time;
- The Glenwood will be canceling activities that include outside organizations coming into their facilities;
- The Glenwood will be canceling outside activities and limiting any outside transportation for their residents, with the exception of medical appointments;
- The Glenwood encourages friends and family to regularly communicate with their loved one through video communication technologies.
The Waterford at Bridle Brook
To protect the well-being of their residents, employees, family members, and partners The Waterford is taking the following actions:
- Provide specific guidance and resources to ensure their communities are prepared with both resources and supplies to address any situations that may arise related to the coronavirus
- Ongoing communication with community leadership to review key processes, available resources, staffing, answer questions and address specific concerns
- Collecting daily community surveys with updates on residents, employees, supplies and compliance with our preparation checklist
- Implementing their staffing backup plan to ensure continuity of staffing in case of an outbreak
Actions they have taken at each community
Every community is taking the following precautionary steps to stop the spread of disease:
- Screening all visitors prior to entry using a questionnaire and, in some cases, a temporal thermometer
- Limiting visits of groups of three or more (excluding family members) and working with families to temporarily limit individual visits whenever possible
- In areas with significant coronavirus activity, restricting all visitors with the exception of emergencies or authorized medical personnel
- Asking residents, staff and guests to report any experienced or observed respiratory symptoms to management
- Reviewing all clinical concerns during daily stand-up meetings
- Practicing an enhanced cleaning and sanitation protocol, which includes the use of antibacterial and commercial cleaning agents, more frequent trash collection, the use of gloves and hand sanitizer, and frequent handwashing
- Reinforcing our policies and procedures for contagious illnesses with staff, such as reminders about washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, staying home when sick, and practicing good coughing and sneezing etiquette
- Conducting in-service trainings for staff and volunteers on sources of exposure, prevention and recognition of symptoms
- Providing residents and visitors with information and resources on disease prevention best practices and posting educational materials throughout the building with information about how prevent the spread of disease
If The Glenwood or The Waterford determines a resident has symptoms, they will follow all CDC-dictated protocols for notification, testing and isolation to minimize spread of infection.
Under the direction of IDPH or HFS each facility will evaluate on an on-going basis whether dismissing or continuing these heightened safety precautions is in the best interest of their residents at that time.
