Tennis wins big decision over Kankakee Bishop McNamara

In its most decisive girls’ tennis victory of the season, Mahomet-Seymour bested Kankakee Bishop McNamara, 8-1, on Thursday (Sept. 8) at the Illini Grove courts.
M-S won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Two Bulldogs – Claire Johnson (No. 4) and Adella Bird (No. 6) did not lose a game.
Johnson topped Ava Conroy, 6-0, 6-0, and Bird blanked Maya Romero, 6-0, 6-0.
At No. 1 singles, Savannah Amatyleon defeated Sarah Berg, 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2, Emily Young handled Racquel Perez, 6-0, 6-2. At No. 3, Holland Martin, beat Maya Patel, 6-1, 6-0, and at No. 5, Ashley Shoaf overpowered Cassie Valtierra, 6-1, 6-0.
The Bulldogs used different players in doubles and carved out wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
At No. 2, the duo of Emmie Flores and Ella Petrie scored a 8-4 win over Patel and Valtierra.
At No. 3, Bulldogs Kira Smith and Katie Atteberry triumphed over Romero and Conroy, 8-0.
M-S (3-3) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 15) at Mattoon.
