Taylorville outlasts Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball

Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team led after each of the first three quarters Friday night (Feb. 9), but couldn’t hang on in the end and suffered a 75-66 loss at Taylorville.
M-S led, 19-11 after one quarter, 44-34 at halftime and 58-54 after three quarters.
Cade Starrick hit 5-of-8 three-point shots and poured in a season-high 19 points. Landyn Hannah scored 17 points.
Jackson Bohm, Braden Pagel and Finn Randolph all wound up with eight points. Lucas Dyer scored five points and Henry Wagner notched two points.
Hannah and Randolph both pulled down six rebounds. Bohm, Dyer and Randolph all finished with three assists.
On Saturday (Feb. 10), the Bulldogs were held scoreless in the fourth quarter at Danville and lost a 68-32 decision to Kankakee in the Watchfire Signs Shootout.
Hannah (11 points) and Bohm (seven points) were the top Bulldog scorers.
Also reaching the scoring column were Starrick (six points), Dyer (three points), Gavin Bailey (two points), Pagel (two points) and Wagner (one point).
After one quarter, Kankakee’s lead was 21-13. The Kays led at halftime, 34-22.
M-S (11-15) returns to action on Tuesday (Feb. 13) in their regular-season finale at home against Normal University High.
